Abstract Due to long operation and aging problem of automatic weather station as well as the running of the new surface observation software,it has been some different failures in the work of surface meteorological observation.By judging and treating the failures during the operation of Minqin National Reference Climatological Station,the judgment and processing methods of common failures for software and hardware are summarized,and the recording processes of the abnormal data are also discussed.This paper gives some suggestions about surface observation that backup the files of surface observation software,strengthen the maintenance of automatic weather station and have a profound understanding for various processing requirements of abnormal records,which can provide a reference for troubleshooting and handling the abnormal records of automatic weather station.
