Abstract This paper introduces the operating status of automatic soil moisture station in Hubei province,which realizes the significance of automatic monitoring of soil moisture on agricultural production and scientific research.The working principle and system structure of DZN3 automatic soil moisture observatory are also briefly described.The faults appearing in the operation of automatic soil moisture observatory in Hubei province are summarized.And its maintenance methods are put forward.Some suggestions on the daily maintenance of the station provide references for the meteorological service personnel.
