Abstract This paper,based on the real-time monitoring technology framework for integrated meteorological services,in which the distributed technology is adopted,makes a research of the study of automatic monitoring technology for surface meteorological station and designs in details the following aspects involved in the automatic monitoring for meteorological observation station,including overall process,data acquisition and interconnection strategy,key technical indicators,monitoring information and warning information.The service oriented system structure development is adopted and the automatic monitoring and warning functions for the surface meteorological observation station are realized,enhancing the capacity of early warning for operation faults and improving the operation and maintenance efficiency of equipment.Besides,the research results are applied in the operations conducted in the meteorological departments of provincial,municipal and county levels respectively,and in this way,the problem of insufficient capacity in comprehensive observation and operation monitoring for automatic operations is solved and the automatic level of ground meteorological observation is greatly improved.
