Abstract:Suspended sediment is a kind of sound reflection in water, its properties affects ADCP calibration and test. According to Sonar equation and sound attenuation model, sound absorption and volume backscatter index are calculatedby experiential and theoretical formular. The sensitive relationship between ADCP and suspended sediment properties including its component, the number of scatters, particle size, density and concentration is found out. Impact for ADCP calibration by suspended sediment characters is also given out.
