Abstract:A 3D lightning channel location algorithm which makes use of the flash and thunder signal is proposed.According to the principle that each step develops the lightning streamer,the flash and thunder will occur synchronically.The thunder signal is divided into several segments which are in line with the intervals of contiguous flash pulses.Its worth nothing that the time of the segments is not isometric.The 3D coordinates of the sound sources in correspondence with the thunder segments are calculated by the cross-correlation analysis and the time interval between the arrival of flash and thunder.Finally,the lightning channel is obtained.The algorithm overcomes the location error of previous algorithm using isometric window of time.The result shows that this algorithm is feasible.
