Lightning transient analysis of wind turbine tower foundation based on ATP-EMTP

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of lightning protection of wind turbine tower foundation,this paper uses ATP-EMTP software to simulate and analyze the transient voltage changes of the first lightning strike and subsequent return stroke at the lightning strike tower foundation.The results show that the transient voltage generated by the first lightning stroke and the subsequent return stroke reaches the peak value in a short time.Then,it attenuates in the form of damped oscillation.The time required reaching the peak voltage during the first lightning strike and subsequent return stroke is analyzed.Compared with the first lightning stroke,the transient voltage peak of the subsequent return stroke is lower,and the time required to reach the peak voltage is shorter.It is concluded that the problem of subsequent return stroke of lightning strike tower foundation cannot be ignored,and the lightning protection problem of tower foundation should be paid attention too.
