Abstract After relocation of national basic weather station in Zhangye, this paper takes a comparative analysis on observation data between the new and old station such as air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction etc. The results show that the daily mean, maximum and minimum air temperature as well as relative humidity and precipitation in the new station are lower than the old one with obvious differences in the minimum air temperature. While the average wind speed of the new station is higher than the old one with obvious differences in the wind direction. According to comparison between average value of new station and observation data of old station at 20 years ago, the average wind speed and air temperature in January and March are dramatical different at the two stations.
