Abstract  This paper introduces the significance of visibility observing data of automatic weather station in ISOS operation platform and presents concepts related to 1-minute and 10-minute horizontal visibility. It shows that automatic detection and recording of vision obstruction phenomenon in the system of ISOS requires comprehensive integration on observed visibility data with other observation data acquired by the AWS.The integrated judgment methods for vision obstructive phenomenon are analyzed and discussed from the following aspects of comprehensive discriminate basis, algorithm and judging process.Meanwhile, the application of the data related to visibility and vision obstructive phenomenon are introduced, and scientific processing approaches for relevant data are also described.
