Abstract:In order to deeply understand the differences of raindrop spectrum distribution characteristics between convective precipitation and squall line precipitation and explore their microscopic precipitation mechanism, the raindrop spectrum observation data of DSG5 precipitation phenomenon instrument in Xinyu City, automatic weather station observation data and radar data were used to analyze the raindrop spectrum characteristics of convective and squall line processes in Xinyu area of Jiangxi province on April 16,2024.The results show that the raindrop concentration and number density of squall line precipitation are much higher than those of convective precipitation, and the average diameter of raindrops is larger, with a higher proportion of large raindrops. The stronger the precipitation intensity, the higher the number density of small raindrops. When the echo reflectivity and extension height increase, the raindrops also increase. In terms of raindrop spectrum characteristics, convective precipitation has a threepeak spectrum, while squall line precipitation has a wider spectrum and is multipeak.During the squall line precipitation process, the raindrop spectrum changes sharply from the front to the convective center, with a significant increase in the number and size of raindrops. The massweighted average diameter Drm can reach 5.53 mm,and the precipitation intensity is the strongest.of structure. These results can deepen the understanding of the microphysical characteristics of severe convection and squall line process in Jiangxi, and further improve the forecast and early warning service effect.
