Abstract:In response to a rare hail supercell weather process that occurred in Wuzhou City,Guangxi on the afternoon of April 22,2022,this article analyzed its weather background and environmental conditions using conventional meteorological data.Through a detailed analysis of the polarization parameters of Wuzhou Sband dual polarization radar, the results showed that this process was jointly organized and triggered by a highaltitude trough,a strong southwest jet stream,a ground convergence line, and an abnormal 3hour negative pressure center, and belonged to a lowlevel warm advection driven strong convective weather process in southern China. The sounding map of Wuzhou shows strong vertical wind shear, strong thermal instability, and strong convective effective potential energy, providing thermal and dynamic instability conditions for severe convective weather. The hail supercell exhibits distinct characteristics of three body scattering spikes, sidelobe echoes, and hook shaped echoes on the basic reflectance map,and a mesocyclone appears on the corresponding velocity map.The radial profile of the reflectivity factor exhibits a typical suspended echoBWERecho wall structure, with the center of the convective strong cell extending beyond the -20 ℃ layer height. The typical dual polarization characteristics of hail are characterized by a reflectivity factor greater than 65 dBZ,a correlation coefficient less than 0.85,and the presence of voids in the differential phase shift rate, resulting in negative differential reflectivity.A differential reflectance arc appears in the region with a high gradient of lowlevel reflectance factors, and a differential reflectance column appears vertically.
