Abstract:The article analyzes hail events in Jiangxi Province from February to May 2024 using radar composite reflectivity (CR),lightning distribution, and thunderstorm clustering data from the"Tianyan"system. The results indicate that all hail events were accompanied by intense and dense lightning activity;while thunderstorm clustering showed concentrated lightning distribution.During the peak of supercells, lightning was dense, concentrated, and relatively small in scale, whereas it became more diffuse and widespread as supercells weakened. All eight hail events in 2024 were associated with supercells, which manifested as either isolated supercells or supercells embedded within squall lines or short echo bands.Notably, supercells at the "bow"apex of bowecho squall lines exceeded 70 dBZ and were accompanied by hail, downbursts, and intense lightning.Multiple short echo bands within a single process led to multiple hail points.Due to limitations in historical data from the "Tianyan"system, further case studies are needed to validate lightning activity characteristics in Jiangxi hail events.Nevertheless, this research provides technical insights for identifying hail potential based on lightning density and thunderstorm clustering within thunderstorm clouds.
