Abstract:Using 49 320 lightning data from the first national risk survey in Sheyang, this article analyzes and studies the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of lightning activity in Sheyang from 2010 to 2020.The results show that there are significant regional differences in the distribution of ground lightning density in Sheyang. The average intensity of lightning in coastal areas is relatively high, and the distribution of ground lightning frequency density and average intensity show opposite trends. The annual average frequency of ground lightning is 3 992,and the annual average number of thunderstorm days is 46.The annual total frequency of lightning is highly correlated with the annual number of thunderstorm days, showing an overall upward trend year by year. The total monthly frequency of lightning generally exhibits a unimodal characteristic, with the highest frequency in July. The daily frequency variation shows an overall "three peaks and two valleys"(W)pattern. The proportion of positive lightning to total lightning is higher than in other regions of Jiangsu.Lightning occurs frequently from June to August, but the average intensity is at its lowest during the year. There are overlapping areas where both lightning frequency and lightning current intensity are relatively high, and these areas are particularly vulnerable to lightning disasters.
