Abstract:The article uses hourly precipitation data from 49 meteorological stations from May to September 2016 to 2023,and uses conventional statistical methods to analyze the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of heavy precipitation in the Alxa Desert area. The results indicate that heavy precipitation in the Alxa Desert area mainly presents a spatial distribution pattern of more in the east and less in the west, with the High tech Zone and Helan Mountain area being high-risk areas for heavy precipitation. In terms of time distribution, the interannual variation of heavy precipitation is large, with the highest frequency of precipitation in 2018.The monthly and ten day distribution of precipitation show a unimodal characteristic, and precipitation mainly occurs from mid July to late August.
