Abstract:In order to further improve the accuracy and lead time of hail monitoring and warning signals, the article utilizes multisource observational data, including conventional upperair and surface observations,FY2G black body brightness temperature, wind profiler radar at Guiyang station, and Cband dualpolarization radar at Rongjiang,to comprehensively analyze the characteristics of a largescale prefrontal warmsector severe hail event that occurred in Guizhou on April 16,2024.The results indicate that this widespread severe hail event was triggered by the combined effects of a forwardtilting southern branch trough,a lowlevel vortex shear line,a lowlevel jet,a surface convergence line, and midtoupperlevel dry cold advection superimposed over strong warm advection in the middle and lower layers.Energy accumulation in the afternoon, coupled with significant vertical wind shear, favored the formation and development of hail, while the establishment of a strong lowlevel jet and a surge in vertical velocity and C2n values promotedpromoted the growth of large hailstones. The rapid expansion of the MCS≤-60 ℃ brightness temperature area, particularly the highgradient boundary zones, showed indicative value for the occurrence of 50 mm hail.A significant surge in Vertically Integrated Liquid(VIL) was observed prior to hailfall, reaching a maximum of 79 kg·m-2.Polarimetric analysis revealed that during the occurrence of 55 mm giant hail, reflectivity(ZH) exceeded 60 dBZ,differential reflectivity(ZDR) ranged from -1 to 0.5 dB,specific differential phase(KDP) was 0,and crosscorrelation coefficient(CC) ranged from 0.85 to 0.98,accompanied by phenomena such as ZDR columns,KDP holes, nonuniform beam filling, and differential attenuation.
