Abstract:Using the data from boundary-layer wind profile radar in Fangshan area of Beijing,a heavy rainfall process from first September to second September in 2014 were analyzed. The results show that the typical characteristics of horizontal wind profile during the prefrontal warm rainfall and the low and high-level frontal passage rainfall can be clearly described by WPR data. The vertical velocity,spectral width and echo spectral density distribution have a good correlation with precipitation intensity. The vertical structure of vertical velocity,spectral width and echo spectral density distribution has evidently different features in separate phase area,and the characteristics in melting area indicate the transformation from ice to water. The echo intensity can clearly show the melting area in 2 900-3 900 m. The variation of C2n with time indicates the occurrence and evolving of the rainfall since it has a good correlation with the humidity.
